Mid-Illinois Corvette Club

Meeting Minutes for July 8, 2019 meeting.

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Rees at 6:32 pm. We have 166 members, 44 were present.

We had three visitors; 1 st time visitor Ed Lamoureux and 2 nd time visitors Cindy & Randy Tangman.

Cindy & Randy Tangman were voted into the club at the meeting. 

We had guest speakers from ( PAW Giving Independence ) Donna Kosner, Sue Hail, Rebecca Splitt, and Colette Rees.

They are an all volunteer organization that takes rescued and donated dogs, train them to be Therapy, Service, Medical Alert, and

other Classification’s, for people that need them. They started in this area in 2008. They place these trained dogs free of charge to

people that need them. To learn more about the organization go to “ Giving Independence.Org”

Gary Uftring spoke of the July 18 th unveiling of The Next Generation Mid Engine Corvette, and how they will be one of the 125

Premier Dealerships.

Treasurer’s Report:  A detailed report was presented for May & June motion to approve John Haase 2 nd Mary Stone motion

carried.

Secretary’s Report:  The Secretary’s Report was posted on the website.  Those without emails were mailed a copy of the reports. 

A motion was made to accept the report by Dennis Dunn 2 nd Buddy Turner motion carried.

Meeting Minutes: June 10th 2019


The meeting was called to order by President Steve Rees at 6:35pm, with 54 members and 4 guests present.  

First time visitors; Randy & Cindy Tangman

Second time visitors; Duane & Karol Allen, they were voted in and are now new members welcome to the club.



Program: We had a guest speaker “Margaret Hanley Williams Founder of Peoria Honor Flight”.  She gave detailed and

Informative short presentation about the Honor Flight Organisation. Some of the Club members have been on previous flights.

Other members have been at the Airport when the flight returns. They say it is an impressive sight. If you want to learn more

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club May Meeting

Meeting Minutes

May 13, 2019

The meeting was called to order by President Steve Rees at 6:40 pm, with members and guests present.   Currently there are 164

members and 93 households in the club.

We had two visitor Dwayne and Carol Allen

Program:  None

Treasurer’s Report:  A detailed report was presented by Peggy Karnes.   A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report by

Bruce Adamson and seconded by Linda Picton..She was accepting and giving receipts for money, Contributions, and Registration

Fees for the Car Show.

Secretary’s Report:  The Secretary’s Report was posted on the website.  A motion was made to accept the report as read by Bruce

Adamson and Seconded by Linda Picton.

Governor’s Report: Sandy reported on the Autocross at the Pekin Airport on 4/27 – 4/28 2019. She reported MR Marcy from

our Club competed for the first time in many years.

May 25, 2019 Mid Illinois Corvette Club Annual Car Show Supporting ST Jude Runners

The club continues to grow; there are many activities to participate in.  Before meetings several members meet at Kep’s in

Washington at 5:00 p.m. for dinner.

New Business:  MR Uftring thanked the Club for its continued support of ST Jude. He also announced that they were picked to be

the down state Corvette Dealer for the 2020 Corvette.

Steve asked the members if they had other Charities, or Organizations that the Club might want to donate to. Two were mentioned

C.I.R.T. ( Central Illinois Riding Therapy )

Veterans Honor Flight

No action was taken this yet

The Club has a new Secretary Jim Redmond if there are any errors in this report please tell me and I will try to correct them in the

next report

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club

April 8, 2019 Meeting Minutes


The meeting was called to order by Vice President, Lori Redman at 6:30 p.m. with 58 members and 2

guests present. Currently there are 164 members and 93 households in the club.

Welcome new members Jim & Julie Selman! Jim and Julie were voted into the club at the meeting.

They have a 2016 Stingray Red Tint Coat Coupe. Welcome!

We are still in need of a secretary! Please consider filling this position. Any questions, please contact

Steve Reese.

Program: None

Treasurer’s Report: A detailed report was presented. Treasurer Peggy Karnes presented Robin Jones

with a check for the St. Jude Drive in the amount of $1,362.00 (dining books $1,086, St Jude donation

$26 and $250 from the MICC general fund). A donation to the shoe fund for $250 was also made from

the general fund. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report by Bruce Adamson and

seconded by Dennis Dunn.

Secretary’s Report: The Secretary’s Report was posted on the website. Those without emails were

mailed a copy of the reports. A motion was made to accept the report as read by Bruce Adamson and

Seconded by Dennis Dunn.

Governor’s Report: Sandy said there will be an autocross at the Pekin Airport on Saturday, April 27-28.

Anyone interested in seeing the set up and race can attend.

Rich was also asking for volunteers to work at the car show, sponsoring trophies, raffle and silent

auction items for 100 goody bags. If you have questions, please email Rich. He is making some changes

to the trophy/plaques this year so when there are trophies left from previous years they can be used by

placing a plate instead of the trophy. A suggestion was made to change from the green Staff shirts to a

Safety Vest for the car show and other events.

The club continues to grow; there are many activities to participate in. Before meetings several

members meet at Kep’s in Washington at 5:00 p.m. for dinner.

New Business: Diana Mooney thanked the club for their donations to the shoe fund. Friday, April 5,

2019 while having dinner at Jim’s Steakhouse, one of the wait staff addressed our group and thanked

the group for taking our host school‘s children for shoes. She thanked everyone and said they all

appreciated our support!

Joe Knapp reported at the meeting there was a $3,000 GM incentive on the purchase of Corvettes until

the end of April.

March 2019 Minutes

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club

March 11, 2019

Membership Meeting Minutes

The March 11, 2019 meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. by President, Steve Rees. There were

51members present and 2 guest, Jim & Julie Selman they own a 2016 Stingray, it is the 4 th corvette they

own. Congratulations and welcome. Currently the club membership is 163 with 91 households.

Steve welcomed everyone.

There was no Spotlight presentation, if you have not participated and would like to please contact our

President Steve Rees. That is always a fun way to get to know our members. However, Steve took a few

minutes to talk about the NCCC and that it is the 50 th year for that organization. There are 242 clubs; 16

Regions and 28 clubs in the Midwest Region (MWR) which includes the states of Minnesota, Wisconsin

and Illinois with a total of 2519 total members and 18719 total for the NCCC. Corvette owners ROCK!

Treasurer’s Report: A detailed report was presented. A copy of the treasurer’s report was available for

those wanting to view during meetings. A motion was made by Bruce Adamson to accept the

Treasurer’s Report and was seconded by Diana Mooney and approved.

Secretary’s Report: February's meeting minutes presented via E-Mail. A motion to approve February

minutes was made by Jim Redman and seconded by Diana Mooney and approved. These minutes will

be emailed to all members. Those without an email address will be mailed via U.S. mail.

Governor’s Report: Our Governor recently attended the NCCC National Convention in the St. Louis

area. Sign up for the September Autocross is also at the activity table.

Elaine Kasky talked about the plans for the Myrtle Beach trip May 29-June2, 2019, there are rooms on

hold for 89.00. Must sign up by April meeting. They will be driving through the Smokey Mountains and

doing Tail of the Dragon. They are expecting 300 plus cars to be there. Club with largest attendance wins

$500.00.

Governor Sandy Arnold talked about the upcoming Auto Cross in September at the Pekin Airport. Club

is applying for the $25.00 permit.

The club continues to grow; there are many activities to participate in. Before meetings several

members meet at Kep’s in Washington at 5:00 pm for dinner.

August 17 th there is Steak Cook Off competition to benefit St. Jude.

Next meeting for the St. Jude Corvette Drive will be March 19, 2019 at 6:00 PM at Landmark.

June 15 th from 9am -2pm there is a Cruise-In for St. Jude at the Blackdog Speed shop in Lincolnshire. Il.

With Payless Shoes going out of business Mo is searching for a new venue which would offer the club a

discount on shoes for the kids.

We are in desperate need of a Secretary. Please contact Steve to accept the position, the club needs

you!

Trivia Question: Which corvette had the lowest hp rating listed in 1969 by GM?

A. L35 B. L71 C. L88 D. L89

Correct answer is C L88, trivia winner would have gotten $10.00 tonight , however George Taylor's name was

drawn and had the wrong answer. Therefore, next month trivia will be worth $20:00

February 11, 2019

Membership Meeting Minutes

The February 11, 2019 meeting was called to order at 6:30 pm. by President, Steve Rees.  There were 27 members present and 2 guest, Mike & Holly Quick they own a 2017 Z51 Convertible.  Currently the club membership is 163 with 91 households.

Steve welcomed everyone.

There was no program at the meeting. President Steve Rees did present a mystery

spotlight which talked about Robin and Lisa Jones. That is always a fun way to learn about our members. Please contact Steve if you would like to participate

Treasurer’s Report:  A detailed report was presented. A copy of the treasurer’s report was  available for those wanting to view during meetings. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report and was seconded and approved. The audit committee did meet in January and complete the audit with no discrepancies. The board also presented a budget for this year. Members were asked what they would like to do regarding the $500 budgeted for the St. Jude Corvette Drive Sponsorship. Since we had a successful year with the selling of dining tour books; $1086 was raised. The question was raised should the club still budget $500 for St Jude Corvette Drive. One suggestion was to add that to the total for St. Jude, another idea was to split the money between St. Jude Corvette Drive and Kids Shoe Fund. It was voted on giving $250 to the Shoe Fund and $250 to St. Jude Corvette Drive.

Secretary’s Report: January's Meeting minutes were approved and seconded to accept.  These minutes will be emailed along with the January 14, 2019 minutes to all members.  Those without an email address will be mailed via U.S. mail.

Governor’s Report:   None.   Convention information is at the activity table.  Sign up for the September Autocross is also at the activity table.

January Meeting Minutes 2019

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club

January 14, 2019

Membership Meeting Minutes


The January 14, 2019 meeting was called to order at 6:31 p.m. by President, Steve Rees. There were 48 members present and 1 guest, Dan Sights. Currently there are 163 club members and 91 households.


Steve welcomed everyone. Joe Knapp (Uftring Chevrolet) spoke about the new building and thanked everyone for their support.

Program: None

Treasurer’s Report: A detailed report was presented. Several members received a refund check for over payment of membership renewal dues. There was discussion of emailing everyone a copy of the treasurer’s report each month. It was decided that a copy of the treasurer’s report would be available during meetings. A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report, was seconded and approved to accept.

Secretary’s Report: Due to Uftring Chevrolet relocating back to the new dealership the December 1, 2018 meeting was held at the Para Dice Hotel. President, Steve Rees called the meeting to order at 6:00 p.m. Everyone attending was greeted and wished a Merry Christmas. A motion was made at 6:05 p.m. to adjourn, seconded and approved to accept. These minutes will be emailed along with the January 14, 2019 minutes to all members. Those without an email address will be mailed via U.S. mail.

Steve commented on the Christmas party and thanked those who coordinated it. It was decided to have the 2019 Christmas party at the Para Dice Hotel.

Governor’s Report: New plastic membership cards will be sent out by the end of January, 2019.

The MWR banquet will be held on March 9, 2019, in Burr Ridge, IL. for information please see Rich. Sign up for the September autocross and information for the NCCC convention in Denver are also available at the activity table.

Old Business:
All Dining Books ordered have been sold. Three additional books were ordered and sold.

Larry Mooney shared that our club members raised $1,178.98 while Ringing of the Bells for the Salvation Army. That’s $112.00 per hour. He also asked for volunteers to sign up for next October and November to ring bells. Way to go!

New Business:

Mike Durham had foot surgery, please let him know you’re thinking of him during a long recovery.

Condolences to Lon Carr, he and his wife Linda have been long time members of the club. Linda passed away January 8, 2019.

New member, Lori Redman will be the new Vice President. Thank you Lori!

We are in desperate need of a Secretary.

An audit committee was appointed: Diana Mooney, Jody Lawrence, and John Hanson (previous treasurer)will work with Peggy Karnes to conduct the audit.

Shoe Fund will continue buying shoes for needy children.

There will be no collection of money without advance notice and approval by the club president.
