The March 2016 meeting was called to order at 7:02 PM by club President Kevin Stremlau. There were 52 members and 2 guests present. The guests tonight were Craig Curry and Rick Corbin. Welcome all!! Kevin reminded us that spring begins this Sunday, March 20th, starting the season for cruise-ins and burn-outs. Aurellio’s Pizza is scheduled for this Saturday – still time to sign up if you want to join the group. The 2nd meeting for the St. Jude Drive is Tuesday, March 22nd at Landmark at 6:00 p.m. He wished Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all members who are celebrating in March.
Secretary’s Report - The February, 2016 meeting minutes as printed in the Newsletter were reviewed with no corrections. A motion was made, seconded, and approved to accept.
Treasurer’s Report - MICC Treasurer, Mourina Sweet, gave the report for January 31, 2016 thru February 29, 2016, including a detailed breakdown of all transactions. A copy was passed around for all members to review. There were no questions. A motion was made, seconded and approved to accept as presented.
Activities - Activities Chairman Jim Gehrig detailed the activities scheduled for the trip to Bowling Green from July 21st to the 24th. Jim has arranged for a group guided tour through the assembly plant, a visit to the Museum, and a box lunch on Friday - all for a special group price of $25/person, or $20/person if you are a National Corvette Museum member. We will start collecting those fees at the April meeting. If you are interested, you will be able to go on the track at the Motor Sports Park during lunch on Friday if you pre-arrange it. There are two ways to make your reservation for the hotel, but the easiest way is by phone. On Saturday, the group will drive to the Opry Mills Mall in Nashville, TN & then to Clarksville, TN to stay at the Hilton Garden Inn. The group will leave at 8:30 Sunday morning to return home. All of this information is available on the website. There are currently 36 signed up for Aurellio’s on March 19th. We also have trips planned for Saturday, April 16th to Destihl in Bloomington, and to the Pontiac Museum and early dinner at Station 343 in Dwight on Sunday, April 24th. Check the calendar for all upcoming events, and those still in the planning stage. Kevin reminded us about Bloomington Gold, June 23rd to the 25th. If you are interested, a group will meet at 7:00 a.m. on Friday at the rest stop E of Morton. There are 11 rooms blocked in the suburb of Avon. You can purchase a 3 day pass for $60, or $25/day per person. It was mentioned that if you did NOT pre-order your tickets, it was cash only at the gate.
Membership – Bruce Adamson filled in for Tracy Adamson who was absent. We had 2 new couples join, Craig & Linda Curry and Rick & Teddy Corbin. That brings our total membership to 148 in 80 households. Remember that the member list will NOT be on the website due to privacy issues.
Newsletter – Mourina reminded everyone that this is the LAST month for a hard copy of the newsletter. Only those with no e-mail will be able to get one. If there is anything you would like put in the newsletter, please send it to Mourina by the 25th of the month. The Louie, Louie Parade is on Friday, May 27th. Decorate your cars, wear costumes, carry a banner, and help promote the MICC car show the next day – all to raise funds for St. Jude. In the past, those participating in the parade paid the $100 registration fee. Kevin proposed that since the club is in better shape financially, could we vote to pay the fee from the fund? There was a motion made, seconded and it was approved. There are stickers that you can purchase for your car to promote MICC. The large, removable ones are $6 each or 2/$10. The smaller permanent ones are $3 each or 2/$5. Mourina mailed out 143 copies of the revised by-laws for members to vote on. She received 84 back approving of the changes. Copies of the new by-laws will be available at the April meeting or will be mailed to those not attending. Mourina reminded everyone that if you receive a donation for the car show please fill out the form so a thank-you can be sent. There will be sign-up sheets for workers for the day of the show. We need help to set up (6:00 a.m.), sell tickets, park cars, help at the registration table, pass out the goody bags, count the votes and clean up. After the show, everyone gathers for a relaxing dinner. Remember, ALL proceeds go to the St. Jude runners, and what a fulfilling experience it is!!
Webmaster - Jim has populated the website with pictures of the club members. If you have any pictures from years past, please pass them on. We are trying to rebuild the history of the club. Check the website often, pictures and information is continually changing.
Governor’s Report - Governor Sandy Arnold attended the NCCC meeting in February. They asked that she come back to her club and vote which group to use for a charity. The 3 choices were: St. Jude, The Shriner’s Hospital, or the Lion’s Club. The club voted for St. Jude. Specific details will be forthcoming as details are worked out. The Director of Charity has resigned, so if anyone is interested you can go to the website and apply. Sandy has several copies of Eckler’s calendar if anyone is interested. If we have a club picture, they may be able to use it in the calendar. She also asked that if you have the winter 2016 issue of Blue Bars that you don’t want she would like to have it. She still needs 6 people to work on June 5th at West Quincy, and 6 people to work on June 18th at Rantoul. If you can help, please let her know.

Old Business – Elaine has club newsletters dating back to 2006 if anyone is interested. Also, if anyone has pictures from past events please give to Jim so they can be added to the website.
New Business – The MICC Salvation Army Bell Ringers raised $1,472 and got a 1st place in the social club category, retaining the traveling trophy. Thanks to all that participated!!
Announcements - Mourina reminded club members that the 2nd meeting for the St. Jude Corvette Drive is March 22, 2016 at Landmark at 6:00 pm. There are currently 55 cars registered, but it is not too late to join the group!! There are 2 employees of Uftring’s that are battling serious health issues. A collection was taken up and the $600 raised will be divided between them. It was suggested that whichever member brings in the most new members to the club during the calendar year would get a $60 gift certificate. A motion was made, seconded & approved by the club.
Trivia and 50/50 - Trivia question: What year was the last year of aluminum knock off wheels on the Corvette??
A) 1964 B) 1965 C) 1966 D) 1967.
The correct answer was C) 1966 and was worth $10. No one answered correctly; it will be raised to $20 next month. The 50/50 drawing was for $48.00 tonight and was won by Buddy Turner, who donated it back to the shoe fund. Thank you Buddy!
