Meeting Minutes for January 2017

The January 9, 2017 meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM by club president Kevin Stremlau. There were 59 members present. Welcome all!! Kevin thanked all those that braved the cold to ring the bells for the Salvation Army, the final amount collected will be announced in early February. He also thanked everyone for their generosity to the Shoe Fund, and all those that participated in taking the kids shopping. Moe announced that they were able to buy 55 pairs of shoes for the kids, not to mention the socks, gloves etc. that were donated. City Link donated the restored bus for the shopping trip, and Moe received a check for $220 collected from the union drivers for next year!! That is what the club is about – the charity work that is done for many worthy causes. Kevin reminded everyone that the greatest asset to the club is the members – ask others to get involved to make things happen. Kevin wished Happy Birthday and Happy Anniversary to all who are celebrating in January.

At the March meeting last year it was voted that the person who brought in the most new members would get a $60 gift certificate. Kevin & Luanne Stremlau were the winners and donated it back to the St. Jude Car Show. Our club had the most members at the Corvette Adventures Show last June – the prize was a 2 night stay in a 3 bedroom house during the show this June. It was voted that all those who attended last year would have their name put in for a drawing. The winner will be announced at the Feb meeting.

New Business – Kevin reported that the budget for the coming year looks good. It was voted on by the club that we would continue to support the St. Jude Drive, the St. Jude Ride, the Shoe Fund, and Ringing the Bells. The proceeds from the Car Show supports the St. Jude Runners. It was suggested we change the start time of the meeting from 7:00 to 6:30 to accommodate those that travel, and also to make sure that we are out of Uftrings by 8:00 when they close. It is also the goal to keep the meetings to 1 hour or less. A motion was made, seconded and approved as presented. Starting in Feb, the meetings will start at 6:30.

Announcements – The first St. Jude Drive meeting will be at Uftrings on Tuesday, Feb 7th; 5:00 for 1st time drivers, 6:00 for veteran drivers.
