August 2019 Meeting Minutes

Mid-Illinois Corvette Club

Meeting Minutes August 12th, 2019

The meeting was called to order by Pres. Steve Rees with 51 members and 3 guests present.   Dave & Becky Holey, and

Ed Lamoureux. This was Ed’s second meeting and was voted in as our newest member.

Program: Guest Speaker Jenna Walker from C.I.R.T. ( Central Illinois Riding Therapy )

They started in 1983 and now have 10 horses, 1 barn, and over 100 students including veterans.

They have 3 paid staff and over 100 volunteers. It cost $3000 yearly per horse. They get no Fed. Funding

Just Grants and Donations. They are having a ( Country Fun Dance ) to raise money Sept. 27th 2019

Starting at 6:00 pm at Farmdale Park in East Peoria.

Treasurer’s Report:  A detailed report was presented.   A motion was made to accept the Treasurer’s Report by Mary Stone and seconded by Bruce Adamson.

Secretary’s Report:  The Secretary’s Report was posted on the website.  Those without emails were mailed a copy of the reports.  A motion was made to accept the report with the correction of St Jude runners name to Amy & Ryan Jones by and Roger Stone

Governor’s Report: None

Activities:  All events are on the website calendar.  Rich usually sends a reminder email/invite before an event.  Please check the website!  A few of the activities are: RT 66 Drive Aug. 17th, 2019.

Vett’s for Vet’s on the River Aug. 24th, 2019

Pekin Airport Autocross Sept. 14th & 15th, 2019. Sandy Arnold needs as many member’s as she can get for 13th,14th,and 15th

To prepare for and help run this event.

The club continues to grow; there are many activities to participate in.  Before meetings several members meet at Keep’s in Washington at 5:00 p.m. for dinner.

New Business: Dining Books are back for $30 each with $10 from each sale going to the Club 18 sold as of now but

If 70 or more are sold the Club gets $12 per book.

John Haase announced that the 2020 Corvette will be at Uftrings on Dec. 6th, 2019

We will be discussing the three organizations that came and talked about their services to our community.

Three of our members received awards at the Hannibal Run, Dariene Corrie, John Hanson, and Mike Branham.  

Old Business: None:

Remember, this is your club!  There are many opportunities to volunteer from serving as a board member to leading an event to helping with one of our charities. This club wouldn’t exist without you!

Membership Report: We thought the Club might lose Don & Peggy Karnes but that’s not true they got another Corvette.

We started something new at this meeting four members gave a little history about themselves, Steve Rees, Harry Sweet,

Steve Corrie, and Jim Redmond. This was done to help members to meet and greet each other we hope it will continue

At future meetings.

 Webmaster Report:  Please email any pictures you would like to have added to the website to Don Karnes at It was discussed that new members or members who have new or different cars should be updated in the near future.

Trivia Question: The prize money was $50 and the answer was 1966 but it rollover because of wrong answer given

 50 / 50 : $28 to winner Harry Sweet will use it for next years St Jude drive.

A motion to adjourn was made and seconded at 7:55 p.m.
