President's Comments for August 2017

As our club grows, we are no longer a smaller car club, but one of the larger corvette clubs in the Midwest. Also as our club grows, it is exciting to meet and greet new members as they come in and share the excitement we have for our club.

The future success of our club is going to depend on a few things: a willingness to get along with each other and doing all the little (and big) things that keep a car club functional, which means getting involved and helping out. The not so fun stuff needs to get done. Don't sit back and expect the officers to do everything. Get out and volunteer at events. If everyone does their part to help out, you will be amazed how much more smoothly things will go.

Everyone should consider taking a turn running for office, this way it won't always be a select few leading the club year after year. Everyone should take a turn.

This being said, make sure you get out there and drive your corvette. I know I always smile a lot more when driving it!

President's Comments for July 2017

As I write this, July is almost upon us. Where did the time go?

The Air Force Museum trip will be one for the books by our next monthly club meeting. "I Spy A Wish" is coming up and is a fun event for a worthy cause. July 22 is the Volo, IL Auto Museum trip. Everyone I have talked to who has been there say it's well worth the trip. It should be a great time.

Please sign up for the club events in July. Don't be the one who keeps saying, "I wish I had done that event!" Summer will be gone before we know it. Don't waste it, utilize it!

Thanks to everyone who helped us have a great MICC Car Show for the St. Jude runners!

This could not have happened without people volunteering to help. The morning started out misty, then became overcast, then gave way to sunshine!

Last I heard, we had 164 vehicles registered. Again, thanks to all. Please remember that we can make this bigger and better next year with everyone's help.

Sit back, relax, and enjoy the rest of the car season with your fellow club members!

As I wait for consistent Corvette cruising weather, I am reminded how impatient we can all sometimes be when things do not go as we have planned.

Just like good weather is coming, so are good times if we are patient and follow the right path. As the song says "We don't all follow the same road. We don't always do as we're told. Where we will all end up, the Lord only knows..."

Just remember that this too will pass...bad weather that is.

Here's to the sunshine that lies ahead!!

As I'm writing this I'm looking out the window at snow flurries...ugh! But SPRING is just around the corner!!! As valued members, we need everyone’s help to make our activities successful and fun. We also need everyone to get out there and start soliciting donations to our annual St. Jude Runners Charity Car Show. And don’t forget, keep those MICC business cards with you at all time. You never know when you may cross paths with a Corvette owner that could be a prospective new member.

President's Comments for February 2017

Cloudy and dreary, over and over…it never fails. This time of the year can bring on a severe case of wintertime blues and Corvette driving deprivation!!! If that’s the case with you, we’ve got just the remedy to fix you up. Sign up and join the friendship and fun at our 2017 club activities!!!

I’d also like to encourage everyone to consider participating in the St. Jude DRIVE to Memphis. It is clearly an awesome and very rewarding experience. The kickoff organizational meeting is Tue., February 7th at Uftring Chevrolet. If you’re a first-time participant, please be there at 5:00 pm, and all experienced participants come at 6:00 pm.

Happy New Year Corvette fans! I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas. And I’d like to thank all the MICC members who helped ring Salvation Army bells at Bass Pro Shop on 3 separate Saturdays. We also had a great MICC Christmas Party at Weaver Ridge Country Club.

Please also know that your generosity to our Shoe Fund helped make a difference in the lives of some very needy children. I’d like to thank our MICC members who organized and helped fit numerous Pleasant Hill School kids with new shoes and socks for the winter. Thank you all for a very successful event!!!

Now it’s time to look forward to 2017. As our greatest asset, YOU, the members bring the broad knowledge, talents, and enthusiasm to help us collectively achieve our goals. Before us is another fantastic year of great humanitarian charity and awesome smile-filled fun. We all know that doing anything, and particularly doing it well takes effort. So, I personally ask EACH OF YOU to get involved and help us make things happen. When YOU do, your reward of satisfaction, friendships, and memories will be priceless.

We pursued our challenging membership goal of 200 with joyful vigor and are now so close. I thank and encourage everyone to please keep up the great work so that we can continue this positive momentum into 2017. An important part of this mantra is our enjoyment of the social journey that surrounds us with not just awesome Corvette automobiles, but great friendships, food, fun, Corvette Racing, parades, car shows, cruise-ins, caravans, auto-crossing, immense charity, shoes and jingling bells!!! Our resounding success is clear reason to celebrate! So my sincerest thanks and wishes to everyone for a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!!!
